Visit the most world’s most prestigious textiles event, Première Vision Paris. Get a fascinating behind the scenes tour of the iconic Eiffel Tower or have an adrenalin-filled day at Disneyland Resort Paris. Paris really is a D&T delight!
A school visit to Paris offers such a vast array of opportunities for D&T, fashion, textile and engineering students that no single visit can encompass everything – which is why StudyTrips works with schools to ensure that each visit is built around your particular needs. Here we can see just some of the options…
… Starting with fashion where we have Premiere Vision Fabrics: the show where modernity meets eco-responsibility.
For three days, in October and February, at Villepinte near Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport, the industries supplying materials and services to the global fashion industry come together displaying yarns, fabrics, leather, designs, accessories and manufacturing techniques.
Students are able to see over 1500 exhibitors presenting their collections developed in keeping with the needs of the fashion market and the timing of the apparel industry.
Meanwhile students interested in food technology can visit the world famous Rungis market, where the largest fresh produce market in the world supplies fish, meats, fruit & vegetables, dairy products and flowers.
And although the behind-the-scenes tour of the Eiffel Tower may seem at first to be designed for engineering students, it is one of those visits that can appeal to everyone, no matter what their background.
These tours give a privileged backstage access to this world famous monument and incorporate the amazing original machinery room which still operates the lifts and the former “bunker” concealed underneath the Champ de Mars.
What is perhaps sometimes forgotten is that it was only intended to last 20 years, but it was saved by the scientific experiments that Eiffel himself encouraged, and in particular by the first radio programme transmissions in France.
It is also a perfect example of how one feat of design, technology and engineering can become a nation’s symbol and showcase. It is in fact the most visited monument that visitors have to pay to enter in the world.
And after all that there is still Disneyland Paris.
The Design and Technology Study Experience at Disneyland Paris is Disney at its best: a seminar and workshop-based programme providing the opportunity for your students to learn in a highly stimulating, real life environment from leading practitioners in their fields.
Students will see how D&T is seamlessly integrated into the Disneyland experience and is used to maintain its position as a market leader via product design, resistant materials, systems and control technology.
Of course, with so much on offer we ensure that each trip is individually crafted to meet your needs. Please contact me for more information:
